Why Handmade Matters?
Handmade furniture is often produced in small quantities and commonly described as eco-friendly, sustainable, recycled or reclaimed. Craft and design are around us every day in the things we use and see, and are an extremely important part of our lives and culture.
Have you ever studied the work space of a person who creates for a living? Their creations are made in a space of joy, honor, and respect. The creator leaves a part of themselves in the item they create and those same values somehow find their way into the very fiber of a handmade item.
When buying a hand crafted item you are supporting a local economy, a local community, a real person. By supporting the maker, you support their creativity and skill. The Artisan has spent many nights learning a skill, perfecting a technique and pouring their passion into what they make.
Handmade furniture radiates a type of character not possible with a mass produced product. Each piece is unique and full of character. There are variations in the detail and finish so you get something no one else has - We can’t think of anything better.
Interior Styling (YEP! We do that too)
Neutral Tones
A neutral, monochromatic palette doesn't feel clinical if you’re using the right layers & textures -it can actually feel quite calming and cosy. Introduce textured cushions, throws, linens, timbers, plants, books and candles to inject life and warmth into the space - Hello rainy days with a warm cup of tea!
Provincial
French Provincial style came on the scene in the south of France in the 17th and 18th centuries. Plain, painted timber or shabby-chic are all popular choices with this design style. The key is to avoid making the space look overly perfect or polished. Rustic wood, antiques and aged, materials like iron and leather pair really well with this style.
Modern Rustic (Earthy)
Furniture made from natural materials both look great, and speak volumes about your environmental consciousness. Opting for rustic wooden pieces and pairing them with accents made from natural materials such as stone, jute, linen and wool, creates a warm, coastal vibe and forms a nice contrast in a modern setting.
Testimonials
RECLAIMED + ECO-FRIENDLY + SUSTAINABLE + ETHICAL
What is a sustainable home?
It’s a house made of or styled with sustainable (recycled, up-cycled, reused) materials, implementing the latest energy-efficient technologies as well as smart solutions. Think households that grow their own fruits/vegetables, live a natural/organic lifestyle, prefer solar panels and dream of living off the grid. These homes maintain awesome aesthetics, are mindful of the environment while making a conscious decision to choose all- things natural.
There's growing interest in eco-friendly furniture – and manufacturers of all sizes are coming to the table. The term ‘eco-friendly furniture’ can also be used to describe these items as they’re produced using recycled materials - the ultimate environmentally-friendly combination of recreating something exciting and new from unused and discarded items.
Our Reclaimed furniture is made from elm wood. Elm is known for its strength, durability and character, and features beautiful knots and deep grains. Mostly salvaged from old barns, factories, railway tracks and warehouses - in a state of disrepair. The material is then sorted, cleaned and transformed to take on a new form, given a second chance to shine.
Designers and manufacturers of natural furniture pieces use innovative methods and green materials to bridge the gap between sustainability and functionality. By using sustainable wood and other environmentally-safe materials to make stylish, functional furniture, it offers an opportunity to lessen our carbon footprint.
If everyone starts with themselves, in their own homes, we’d be one big step closer to an environmentally conscious way of living, a healthier home/lifestyle and a protected environment.
Overview of key facts
1. Sustainable furniture is not only healthier and more environmentally friendly than conventional variants, they are often made with more mindfulness, which is why they are not only timeless and detailed, they’re also durable. Accordingly, a slightly higher investment will pay off in the future.
2. It's often handmade using Natural materials and resource-saving processes. This is why the products are not only environmentally friendly, but also unique.
3. The comfort of a sustainable piece of furniture can be enjoyed to the fullest, since neither a person, nor nature, the environment or other living things have been negatively impacted by the manufacturing process, so you can relax with a clear conscience
Ethically sourced
We have personally experienced poverty and the exploitation which people in third world countries are subjected to, and struggle with every day. We are blessed and beyond grateful for the opportunities we have been given in life therefore, want to give back and empower others to do the same.
We don’t ‘sell’ a lifestyle we don’t emulate ourselves. Our brand is a representation of who we are are, how we live, our core values and our deep belief and love for the Natural world. We started this company so we could help be the change and share our design/style creativity with others.
By sourcing ethical, fair trade products from reputable organisations, we are confident they pay their employees a fair wage, provide humane working conditions and give back financially to the Artisans community. People who don’t exploit other people to make a profit, instead empower the artist to bring about their own positive change in this world.
Nature provides in abundance! Our products are ideal for those who think globally, have a social consciousness, believe in Nature’s ability to heal and appreciate a quality handmade product, one with character and soul.
We take great care in sourcing products which support the lifestyle we’re trying to create and sound, both morally and ethically. Our number one priority is service followed by our love for design - helping to create beautiful, natural (guilt free!) homes x
